We must stay alert to survive in a battlefield. We cannot
afford a single mistake. We have to fight with all commitment
and dedication to survive.
Jihad in Islam means striving for moral and physical liberation
both for the individual and collective goals.
Jihad is not necessarily a war. War is justified only for the
physical liberation of the oppressed. The literal meaning of
Jihad is struggle or striving in the cause of Allah in one form
or other. It includes the inner struggle for physical, mental
and spiritual perfection, and to remain steadfast in the Cause
of Allah.
* Physical preparation:
It involves physical fitness, exercise, a balanced diet etc. It
is necessary for a good Muslim to maintain good dietary
habits and to engage in physical activities. This helps him to
keep his body healthy and fit.
* Mental preparation:
One must acquire Divine knowledge from the Holy Quran and
the Hadith. It is also important to acquire the changing
realities through modern education. Modern education equips
one to compete successfully in life. Application of all knowledge
should be based on the foundation of Divine knowledge.
* Spiritual preparation:
It involves putting into practice the Divine knowledge acquired
by you. A spiritually aware person practices what he
preaches.
Spiritual preparation such as the Obligatory Salath, Dhikr,
fasting during the Holy month of Ramadhan, Zakath, etc. We
have to safe guard from all sins by constantly remembering
Allah (Dhikr). We should practice Taqwa and Sabr.
Taqwa - Think of Allah before every action.
Sabr - Think of Allah before every reaction.
Man is born to strive and struggle. He must exercise patience
if he faces difficulties and hardships. Allah will surely make
his way smooth for him. Finally, he will get the ultimate
reward, the supreme achievement: the Garden of Eternity.
Principle Eleven is think and act as if you are in the
battlefield.
